“Grüneburgpark” in the Frankfurter suburb of Westend, was a park where the likes of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Bettina von Arnim used to meet. Now the park is a popular place for all types of sporting activities. In the 29 hectares of parklands, you will enjoy attractions such as the newly erected Korean Gardens (2005) and the “Schönhof-Pavillon”, as well as partial views of the Frankfurt skyline.
Grab your walking-poles and head for “Nice” – an area on the northern part of the Main River, between the “Friedensbrücke” (bridge) and the “Untermainbrücke” (bridge), with tropical vegetation that is reminiscent of the city of Nice. Due to the sandstone bank reinforcements, which attract the suns warmth, you can enjoy longer summer evening walks in a “Mediterranean” environment - passing by fig trees, bay trees, ginkgo trees, lemon tress and almond trees.
The former federal garden showground’s has become a popular meeting place for walkers; the “Niddapark”, located in the Frankfurt suburb of Ginnheim, 7 km from the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, is ideal for Nordic walkers. Here you will discover various flower beds, small forest-like groups of trees and lush open fields surrounding the river Nidda.
The “Heilklimapark” (healthy-climate-park) in the “Taunus” region, between gentle hills and spruce forests, is located approximately 30 km away from the hotel. It is “the” German nature park and can be conveniently accessed via the local train and subway system. Directly at the train stop you can start your Nordic Walking adventure – information about the various routes can be obtained in advance from the hotel reception. Discover the historical tracks and routes through the Taunus region. For those that wish to drive, they can make use of over 120 parking spaces scattered throughout the nature park. The magnificent view of the Frankfurt skyline is included.
