An all-round relaxing form of sport – good for the figure and the cardiovascular system; the pulse is positively enhanced but not overly stressed. At the same time the body burns off fat – around 500 calories per hour. This is 250 more calories than just walking and 100 less than jogging. But it is also good for the mind and soul – those that are regularly active in the great outdoors are more balanced and work better under pressure. Therefore, the Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts offer a wide range of Nordic Walking routes in close proximity to their hotels – providing you the chance to get active amongst beautiful scenery.
“Grab your poles and start walking!” From the hotel you can walk comfortably along the river “Ahr”; past the numerous vineyards “hanging” from the scenic hills - turning this river valley into Germany’s red wine paradise.
From the basis park “Ahr Rhein Eifel” you can continue to the "Eifelberge” (mountains). Here you will enter one of the most densely covered forests regions in Europe. Take the “red wine walking-track” – you will be amazed by the magnificent vineyard landscapes covering 35 km.
Between Bad Neuenahr and Ahrweiler is the starting point of the first Nordic Fitness Park in the States of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. With the choice of 4 different routes, you can really get into full swing while taking in the beautiful scenic vineyard landscapes in this beautiful valley (“Ahrtal”). Over 135 km of well signposted tracks, that meet the standards of the International Nordic Walking Association, can be chosen from. Are you tempted? Then, don’t hesitate to ask us for advice on the various walking tours available, or we can reserve you a training course or a Nordic-Walking package including a trainer, rentable poles and a pulse measurer.
