An all-round relaxing form of sport – good for the figure and the cardiovascular system; the pulse is positively enhanced but not overly stressed. At the same time the body burns off fat – around 500 calories per hour. This is 250 more calories than just walking and 100 less than jogging. But it is also good for the mind and soul – those that are regularly active in the great outdoors are more balanced and work better under pressure.
The perfect walking tracks with poles are the many paths that lead around the river “Alster”, which flows directly past the hotel. Yellow arrows lead you on the first part of the 22 km track, taking you from the “St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken” (bridge) in the direction of “Poppenbüttel”. The local public transport will provide for a comfortable return trip to the hotel.
Active training with your poles is also possible right in the centre of Hamburg, around the inner “Alster” Lake – the small southern part of the “Alster”. For those that are searching for even more possibilities, the green banks of the outer “Alster” with its magnificent paths, can be shared with the many joggers and bike riders. Take in the wonderful view of the white sails on the water that glitter in the sun.
