Baltic waves and more, on holiday in Zingst
The holiday resort of Zingst not only has one of the finest beaches on the Baltic. You can also discover historic captains' houses, cranes and much more.
Captains' houses still define the backdrop of the Baltic resort of Zingst. In order to distinguish the generously proportioned houses of the ships' captains from those of the mates they were painted white, while the mates' houses were brightly colored. The Zingst Museum of Local History (Heimatmuseum), which also houses a museum bakery, is just such a captain's house. Other examples can also be found in Hafenstrasse and Strandstrasse.
The West Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park (Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft), outside of the Baltic resort, provides a resting place for over 50,000 cranes in the autumn. The birds rest here before flying on to the south, to their winter home. Gray seals, harbor seals and European otters can also be observed here.
The Steigenberger Aparthotel in Zingst is located right on the beach, just behind the dike, and it is a good starting point for journeys of discovery on the Fischland-Darss-Zingst Peninsula.
